Save the Date => Conference for School Library Staff on Oct. 14 & 15

Hi,

As you are winding down your school year, I want to get something on your fall calendar. The Oregon Association of School Libraries (OASL) has their annual conference in the fall.

This year it will be in beautiful Bend on October 14th and 15th.

The event is an excellent professional development and networking opportunity for school library staff. This is just a sampling of the sessions:

  • Keynotes and sessions with awesome authors like Meg Medina and Duncan Tonatiuh (http://blogs.bend.k12.or.us/OASLconference2016/authors/)
  • A trainer from Gale will explain how to use some of the Gale databases, which are available on OSLIS (and that’s why I’m posting about this conference on OSLIST).
  • Book talks for elementary, middle school, and high school levels
  • Tips for teaching students how to do research
  • …and much, much more!

The cost for attending both days is $190 for OASL members and $220 for non-members. Registration and session information will be posted by mid-June.

I submitted a very brief article about the conference for the June issue of the Oregon Department of Education newsletter, Education Update. Perhaps you can share the conference link or the newsletter article with your administrator to ask for some professional development funds.

I hope to see you there, but first, enjoy your summer!

Thanks,
Jen
