Gale DBs => Interface & Responsive Design Updates Coming

Please see the email below from my colleague, Arlene Weible. It’s about Gale database interface changes happening on April 2nd. There was also an article about the updates in the March OASL newsletter.

Which databases will be affected? GVRL, In Context products, and InfoTrac products, including PowerSearch. Basically, the change affects every Gale database that is listed in the cross-searchable section (blue) in the Gale common menu that you get to by clicking on PowerSearch. (Well, Discovering Collection is in that section, and it will not be updated.) As you can see, that is about 2/3s of all of the databases. Kids InfoBits, National Geographic Kids, GREENR, and Health & Wellness Resource Center are four databases that will not be affected.

Teachers and staff might want to know.

Thanks,
Jen

Subject: [Libs-Or] Interface and responsive design updates coming to Gale databases

On April 2, Gale will be introducing an enhanced design for the Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) and the databases within the InfoTrac and In Context families, including the PowerSearch platform. These enhancements will increase accessibility for those with disabilities like low vision or blindness, improve usability for desktop and mobile researchers, and create a common user experience across most of their resources. More details are available on the enhancements website.

To get a preview of these changes, log in to GVRL, Academic OneFile, or General OneFile. In the top left corner, you should see a link to Try New Experience. After clicking on the link, you will see a link to Try Now. Clicking on this link will take you into the database with the new design.

All of the current functionality within the current databases is still available in the new design, but there are some changes to the placement of various tools. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
