Hi,
Pardon the cross-postings. Also, normally you only get 1 to 3 messages a month through OSLIST. Expect a few more over the next few months due to announcements about Gale.
Ann Reed, the Federal Programs Coordinator at the State Library, and I will coordinate Gale training sessions over the next few months. We are utilizing a combination approach. You may attend a webinar, view an archived webinar, and/or attend various on-site trainings around the state.
The first offering is a “Welcome to Gale” webinar. Kurt Stovall, our Gale trainer, will introduce you to the databases in our statewide package and explain the very basics of the interface. You have 9 options to join this Oregon-specific webinar in August.
· Dates: August 18th, 21st, or 31st
· Times: 9:00 to 10:00, 10:30 to 11:30, or 3:30 to 4:30 (Time options apply to all 3 dates above.)
· Registration: No need to register.
· Equipment: You need a computer with an Internet connection and a phone.
· Instructions: See the attached instruction sheet. If you did not receive the attachment, email me for a copy. Be sure to read it before joining a session as it provides some good tips for making sure your computer is webinar-ready.
· Identify Your Library: When logging in to the webinar, please use the space marked Company to identify your library.
The Gale support site also has a calendar that lists regularly-scheduled free webinars which focus on specific databases. Anyone from around the world may join these 1 hour sessions, but you must register ahead of time. http://www.attendeenet.com/gale_training/ Click on a calendar entry to be linked to more information, including the registration page. We’ll send links to archived webinars soon.
Webinars are not limited to library staff. Interested teachers are welcome to participate.
On-site training times and locations still need to be confirmed, but these are the dates:
September 9th, 10th, and 11th
October 13th, 14th, and 27th
November 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th
Please help us spread the word about the August webinars.
Thanks,
Jen
