Hi,
Check out the Gale support site for Oregon. It has been updated and now has a broader purpose.
If you have a Gale tech support question, please submit it through the support site. If you do not get help within a reasonable amount of time, let me know. Reasonable will vary, but feel free to contact me after a week.
The following are some of the things you can do on the site.
MARC
Records
If you want to
download MARC records for the 25 titles available to everyone through the Gale
Virtual Reference Library, choose K12-MARC Records from the pull-down menu.
Then click on the blue link at the end of the note. A pop-up screen will
provide a link to the request form and a few tips for completing
it.
IP
Addresses for Automatic Authentication
If you have to log in
when accessing Gale from a school computer, you can register your school or
district’s IP addresses with Gale. That allows Gale to recognize your school
automatically; therefore, you will not have to log in. (However, users always
have to log in when accessing Gale away from school.) To set up automatic
authentication, choose Register Your IP Addresses from the pull-down menu, and
fill out the form at the bottom of the page.
General
Requests
Have a Gale tech
support question that doesn’t fall into one of the categories in the pull-down
menu? No problem. Fill out the form at the bottom of the Miscellaneous or Need
Additional Info pages.
Gale
Database Posters and Bookmarks
Click on Market Gale,
the box in the top right corner, to get to Gale’s Power to the User page. Then
click on Market Your Gale Products in the left column to order posters,
bookmarks, and tent cards for use in promoting the databases.
Recorded
Webinar (intro to Oregon statewide database
package)
If you could not
attend any of the on-site or online trainings, you can view an archived version
of the 1-hour webinar designed to introduce you to the databases available in
our statewide package. Click on either Training Opportunities link found
towards the top of the page, and click on Recorded Webinar under the Self Study
bullet. The video opens with a 45 second audio introduction, during which you
will see a black screen.
Database-Specific
Webinars
Every month, Gale
offers a variety of 1-hour webinars designed to teach you how to use specific
databases. These are free but require registration. Click on Training
Opportunities and then on Complete Webinar Schedule. To register, click on any
calendar entry that interests you, and then click on Register Online
Now.
Enjoy your vacation.
Thanks,
Jen
