MLA 8 is now live in the secondary version of MLA Citation Maker.
These 7 templates are complete: Book, Periodical Article, Web Site, Audio Recording, Video Recording, Artwork, and Other. The remaining 4 secondary templates and the elementary version of MLA Citation Maker are on track to be ready by the end of October.
The templates should be easy to use, although folks may need to get used to MLA 8’s concept of containers. As guidance, there are many notes on the templates. You may want to review the resources mentioned in the earlier announcements (April 22, 2016, August 25, 2016, and September 23, 2016).
We used MLA language for the field labels so students can become familiar with the terminology, but we added notes as clarification when needed. For example, MLA consistently uses the phrase Title of Container, so on the Book template, this is the related label: Title of Container (Title of Book).
If you discover any issues with MLA 8 Citation Maker, please report them to me.
Thanks a million to Marlene Lee, OSLIS Chair, who has volunteered well over 100 hours on this project. She and I worked as a team, and her contribution has been invaluable! I crown her Queen of MLA.
