Hi Folks,

Considering the current circumstances and how much extra you have on your plate, I cancelled the OSLIS webinar about how to use the quizzes for the Learn to Research video tutorials. I had announced the webinar in early March, and it was scheduled for April 1^st. 

Speaking of webinars, I just learned that Gale is offering a webinar on Thursday, April 2^nd at 11 am Pacific called Online Learning Tools Within Your Gale Resources. K-12 library staff and other educators are welcome to register. Here’s the description:

As your school quickly makes the move from in-person courses to online learning, your Gale resources are here to help! Join this webinar for quick tips on common Gale tools within and support materials that you can use to help smooth the transition. This session will be recorded for those who cannot attend. 

Also, the State Library’s Library Support division is sending a weekly update during the coronavirus closures. This week’s announcement is archived here. The virtual office hours that are mentioned are for library staff from around the state to ask questions and share information and experiences about responding to the coronavirus situation. 

Last, here are some coronavirus-related resources from today that might be helpful. Leanne Ellis has a Knowledge Quest blog post about the role of school librarians right now, and it offered some good tips about structuring online lessons (if that’s the route you are going). Also, this afternoon, Korie Buerkle from Newberg Public Library posted on Kids-Lib about her experience making recordings of storytimes. And, I saw an American Libraries article about sanitizing library collections, which we added to the State Library’s coronavirus LibGuide. Click on the Resources for Responding tab, and look for the Handling Library Materials box.
