Citation Maker Updates: Generative AI Template, Prompt to Delete Citations, & Twitter Now X
April 11, 2025
Hi Folks,
At the end of March, we went live with an update to all three versions of Citation Maker on OSLIS – MLA for elementary students, MLA for secondary, and APA for secondary. These are the major changes:
- There’s a new template for citing generative artificial intelligence (AI)! Instructions at the top of the template make it clear that students should check with their teacher before using generative AI. Produced citations are based on MLA and APA guidance.
- On the social media template, all Twitter references are now X.
- A confirmation prompt pops up to keep users from accidentally deleting a citation when clicking on it in the orange-dotted box where produced citations appear. Select “Delete” to remove the citation or “Cancel” to keep it.
- FYI, the “Save Citations as Google Doc” option may prompt users to grant OSLIS permission again. If so, select the correct Google account and then “Continue,” and the prompt should not appear again.
Questions? Please ask. Thanks for helping spread the word to students, classroom teachers, and library staff.
Best,
Jen
